ORIGINAL ARTWORK BY MARY BYRNE EIGEL
"
I began teaching High School level in 1974, in the St. Louis Public Schools. After completing graduate school in 1980,1 began teaching at SIUE. In 1990, I began teaching for Jefferson College. And in 1994, having moved to Washington, Missouri, I began teaching at East Central College. I returned to HS teaching from 1994-1998. In Spring 1999, I began teaching at SLCC-Meramec.
My paintings have been exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally in juried competitions and have won several awards. My work is also part of several corporate collections. Recently I completed a large scale watercolor for the Pratt Cancer Center, St. John's Mercy Hospital.
I have juried and curated major exhibitions. This year, with Rene Michel-Trapaga, we curated an International Ink & Light Digital Imaging Exhibition. It was a collaborative effort between St. Louis Community College-Meramec, St. Louis Artists' Guild and St. Louis Sister Cities program. Work in the show represented 7 international sister cities, 15 artists, and 16 regional artists of note.
In Fall 2002, I was selected as one of 11 artists to participate in an International Art Project in Galway, Ireland. I had the opportunity to work in adjoining studios with artists from Ireland and several other countries for an entire week. We worked by day and participated in several activities each evening as guests of the city of Galway. It was one of the richest experiences I have had as an artist.
Currently, I teach at the Center for Visual Technology, SLCC -Meramec and East Central College, Union, MO and work in my in-home studio. I work in watercolor, photography and composited digital images."
